A Fierce Foray Into The Heart Of The John F. Kennedy Assassination

Crossfire by Jim Marrs is essentially the unofficial encyclopedia regarding the Kennedy Assassination and Coup D’etat. In this phenomenal tome Marrs carries out a methodical examination of all the intricacies that revolved around this incident. From breaking through the veil of the official story, to heading into the darker aspects of the conspiracy, Marrs attempts to leave no stone unturned . Marrs takes a gander at everything from nefarious dealings of the CIA, to witness accounts that eviscerate the official narrative, to examinations of the grassy knoll as well as the depository. Of course, there is a LOT more. Finding peculiar – “coincidental” – instances littering the event, Marrs homes in on the issue with the ambulance that was to serve as the reason for President Kennedy’s motorcade having to stop, to countless dead witnesses [and people in the know]- 143! – and even suspect dealings with the secret service and how it acted once the assassination began taking place. Each of this is sifted to leaving the reader aghast at such events. Not only that, but the cover up that ensued, which no doubt involved Lyndon B. Johnson and insiders from the CIA, FBI, Secret Service, and more, is also examined at length into a variety of rabbit trails that will leave the reader furious at the fact that so many people turned their backs on Kennedy, or they were part of the conspiracy in the first place. Issues with the infamous Zapruder film are also given a glance given all circumstances revolving around it. The author also examines how the CIA and its notorious mind control experiments via MK Ultra might dovetail with the assassination. As the author saliently notes: “Since Oswald may have taken a mind-altering drug; since his killer, Jack Ruby, told Dallas police he had no recollection of shooting Oswald; since Sirhan Sirhan, the presumed assassin of Robert Kennedy, still claims he can’t remember what happened in the Ambassador Hotel; and since a San Quentin psychologist, Dr. Eduard Simson, proclaimed that Sirhan has been “programmed” by drugs, hypnosis, or both, the possibility of mind control in the JFK assassination…cannot be ruled out.”[1] Besides homing in on Lyndon B. Johnson, the author also thankfully narrows in on J. Edgar Hoover, whose ability “to gather information and then to control it” give him enormous power. This along with his suspect dealings within the assassination, are more than ample reasons as to why Hoover is likely very complicit in the assassination. Marrs also lays down the fact that many witnesses were in fact intimidated by the authorities into going with the official narrative. Regarding this, the author soberingly notes: “Witnesses Charles Givens, James Tague, Phil Willis, Kennedy aides Kenneth O’Donnel and David Powers, and former senator Ralph Yarborough were pressured to alter their statements, while others – including Ed Hoffman, A.J. Millican, Sandy Speaker, Acquilla Clemons, and Richard Carr – were threatened into silence.”[2] Predictably, the mainstream media – being part of the establishment – didn’t even bother in examining their testimony, nor anything else that might blow the lid on the cover up. Then again, being the official mouthpiece of the establishment, this is par for the course. Of course, the author also homes in on many of the interests that revolved around the assassination from Big Oil, to the Big Banks, the Mob, the Cubans, FBI, CIA, and more. How Jack Ruby’s role plays out around this conspiracy is also given more than a fair glance by Marrs. Interestingly, Jack Ruby dying of cancer dovetails with information from Dr. Mary’s Monkey – How The Unsolved Murder Of A Doctor, A Secret Laboratory In New Oreleans and Cancer-Causing Monkey Viruses Are Linked To Lee Harvey Assassination And Emerging Global Epidemics by Edward T. Haslam. Haslem found that cancer was able to be induced via injection, which rings ominous since Ruby dying of an unexpected cancer certainly sent shockwaves given how many researchers have postulated that Ruby was indeed given cancer as a covert method of murder. One of the worst parts of all this is that the cover-up continues until this very day. Regarding this, the author notes feelings related from a JFK assassination research website, JFK Facts: “If JFK was killed by a deranged lone nut, why are so many records from 1963 considered so significant in 2012? Why were records destroyed? Who ordered their destruction? Where are the Air Force One tapes? Why can’t they be found? Why are so many CIA documents about undercover officers with pre-assassination knowledge of Lee Harvey Oswald classified for reasons of national security? Why doesn’t Congress oversee the JFK Records Act? Why don’t they hold public hearings on these issues and get answers to these questions?“[3] Or, as Governor Jesse Ventura intimated: “If the government were telling the truth, there would be no reason to lock up anything from the people of this country. Clearly, they are not, because here we are 50 years later, and they are still withholding documents from us.”[4] Consider this mandatory reading if you care about what’s happening to this country. This book not only proves without a shadow of a doubt that the official story is hogwash, but it also proves that there is overwhelming evidence that Oswald was a fall guy. Not only that, but: “The Dallas police paraffin test showed no gunpowder on Oswald’s hands or cheek, evidence that he did not fire a rifle…”[5] Of course, the ballistic evidence and medical evidence also support a more concerted and conspiracy into more power elements given that only a select few would have the ability to alter data related to the assassination. All things considered, this book is a masterful analysis that not only eviscerates the official narrative, but also sheds light into many of the darker components that played a role into the assassination of President Kennedy. It’s my contention, as well as that of other researchers that many of the elements that played a role in carrying out that assassination are still around today. Given how much our nation has deteriorated since the assassination with every new scandal and with every new crisis, we have not rid ourselves of this deadly shadow. And we must, for how can true change ever take place if the darkness lie embedded within a structure that should stand for good, but unfortunately hasn’t, and has only stood to support the most corrupt within the establishment. For this, and many more reasons, this book is vital in understanding how we got into this current moment history as a society. Deep dive

Lots of interesting information and great book to start off with into the history of JFK assassination

Powerful

This book is much more than I thought it would be based only on the title. I figured it would mainly talk about the mechanics of how many shots were fired during the assassination, where the shooters were located, etc.. But this is really a comprehensive study of the JFK assassination. The technical details are covered but it also gets into the bigger picture of the political climate that existed in 1963 and who may have been involved and responsible for planning and executing the assassination and the ensuing cover up. There are fascinating insights in the book which are the result of many years of research and study about the assassination by author Jim Marrs. Mr. Marrs and others have looked at the assassination from many different angles and figured out what probably happened and why. For example people say it was just a lucky coincidence that Jack Ruby entered the basement of the jail at the exact time Lee Oswald was being transferred. But the researchers say it wasn't a coincidence at all. The police delayed bringing Oswald out until Ruby was in position. This of course heavily implicates the Dallas Police Department in the conspiracy as Jim Garrison believed. I would say generally speaking that's a good rule to follow for people who are studying about the JFK assassination. There are no coincidences in this case. There's not a lot of pictures in the book but the few pictures which are included are very important. The famous Zapruder film was altered almost immediately after the assassination. The version of this film that was released to the public has the back of JFK's head blacked out to hide the massive damage to the back of his skull. The pictures of Lee Oswald standing in his back yard holding the alleged assassination rifle are also fakes. Using today's modern photographic techniques the alterations that were done to these critical pieces of evidence can now clearly be seen and nobody can really disagree with those findings. As Jim Marrs points out altering the Zapruder film may have had some short term benefits for the conspirators to deceive the world but in the long run this may end up helping the cause to find the truth. There's only one group of people who had the power to make those types of alterations to critical evidence. As I read more about the JFK assassination a very dark and sinister picture begins to emerge. This is a story of greed, betrayal, deceit, and murder. At this point I don't think there's much of a question that the government was behind all this. The CIA. The FBI. The Secret Service. The Military. Wall Street and the Federal Reserve. The Texas oil barons. They were all involved it seems. The question for us today is what does it all mean and how is it still affecting us. Jim Marrs feels they assassinated JFK as a warning to any and all who might like to follow in his footsteps. In my opinion this would be a great book to read for someone who is just starting out doing research about the JFK assassination. If someone reads this book and then reads some of the other books Jim Marrs refers to they would obtain a great understanding of the assassination. But this book is recommended for anyone regardless of their level of familiarity with the assassination. The JFK assassination is a subject that has attracted many high quality authors and Jim Marrs is definitely one of those. Alastair Rosie

One of the best JFK assassination books out there.

In the world of conspiracy theories, the JFK conspiracy reigns supreme as one of the enduring mysteries of the twentieth century whose effects are still being felt today. It was all the more shocking because the assassination was carried out in front of hundreds of people in broad daylight, and in its aftermath it seemed Camelot had died. With the subsequent government cover up, allegations of CIA, FBI, Secret Service, and Mafia involvement we in the twenty first century are still left wondering. Who did it? As a child growing up the sixties and seventies Oswald's guilt was always accepted carte blanche by my father and passed onto me as gospel, a communist plot to get rid of the American president. It was only when I saw Oliver Stone's film, JFK that I saw how a coup d'etat could have occurred, and when two of the retired pathologists were trotted out for the public in the hype around the film I sensed the stench of corruption again. Jim Marrs' book Crossfire, The Plot that Killed Kennedy is one of the books used as a reference point for Stone's Counter Mythology to counter the Government Mythology. At 590 pages it's a hefty tome and has an extensive bibliography at the back. It doesn't tell us whodunit but it gathers all the evidence that had been uncovered from 1963 up until 1989 and lays it all out in easy bite sized chapters. At the end of every chapter you find a brief summary of the major points, which I found crucial when you have to absorb so much information at once. Part one is the Kill Zone, setting the scene for the assassination, the Texas School Depository, the Triple Underpass, the Grassy Knoll, and also gives you background information on the Kennedy rise to power. Part Two is Means, Motives, and Opportunities, which goes into who might have wanted Kennedy dead. Lee Harvey Oswald's history, the Russians, the Cubans, Mobsters, the CIA, the FBI, Rednecks and Oilmen, and the Military. Part Three is the Aftermath. Dallas, the two hospitals where two autopsies produced different results, the Jack Ruby connection, the evidence used to convict Oswald is debunked, the Warren Commission, the Garrison Investigation, the House Select Committee on Assassinations, the Oswald Exhumation years later and finally a list of `convenient deaths.' Witnesses who could have or actually contradicted official FBI and Intelligence reports. At the very end is a re-enactment, similar to the conversation Costner's character has with X in JFK, where a possible assassination plot is put into motion. It makes for stirring and thought provoking reading although other evidence that has since come to light obviously won't appear. However for anyone interested in what happened that November 22, 1963 this is an indispensable book to have on your shelf. It is probably the base text that will start you on your own journey. The summaries at the end of each chapter as mentioned mean you can condense the critical information in short bullet points. But why we should care about the assassination of a US president back in 1963? I could probably point to the many government cover ups, lies. From Watergate through to the invasion of Iraq to search for WMDs, but I think I'll leave the last word to Jim Marrs, quoting from page 590 of the book where he states. `The Kennedy assassination was a true coup d'etat, a sudden and violent shift of power to the right in this country. And that power, though weakened by revelations of corruption and unachieved goals, remains with us today. Few people have shown a willingness to confront and accuse this power. But until the people of the United States confront the reality of Kennedy's death and face up to the power behind it, the wars, near wars, the wasteful military build up, foreign adventurism, squandered millions, trampled human rights, moral decline, and environmental pollution will continue.' 1 I've given it five out of five and lament the fact there are only five stars to give, it deserves more than that for its commitment to truth. 1 Crossfire The Plot That Killed Kennedy page 590 By Jim Marrs, Published 1989 Carroll and Graf Publishers.
