Writing prompts

This book has so many interesting writing prompts. My 9year old has been writing in it and using these prompts and spouting the information in the book. I am always happy to find a way to get her inspired to write that does not involve nagging.

My daughter loves the book. It was a great book to encourage writing and to express herself.

Clever and fun with so many writing prompts and ideas

I received a finished copy as part of the Sourcebooks First Readers program. Kwame Alexander is one of my favorite authors and I read everything he writes. This book is so much fun to read with many writing prompts, examples, and clear explanations of what makes a great poem. This book would be fun for both beginning writers as well as those who need some inspiration. The book also includes plenty of space to write your own poetry, if readers wish to use this as a true notebook.

Poetry Time

I received this book as an ARC from Source Books. Kwame Alexander is just a breath of fresh air. This poetry notebook is a good resource guide to get the little one’s creative juices flowing. With guided props, quotes, and writing prompts, a kid is sure to be the next best poet.

Let your voice be heard

A powerful voice invites powerful voices. Kwame Alexander’s work inspires, and I love this new text’s invitation to words crafted from readers. A wonderful book for the classroom or reading (and writing) at home.
