Ribon's Smash Hit Finally Translated~!
Not gonna lie, I'm not a big fan of Yen Press, but I think I changed my mind. This series is the number one love story in Japan right now, and is running in Ribon currently. The translation was done very well, and ofc Maya-san's art is so beautiful, even this early in the series. Let's all enjoy Honey Lemon Soda!
Adorably cute!
this is one of my fave shoujo romances! It is so cute and the art style is one of my favourites. If you have not read it, you are totally missing out. It is the ultimate romance about a shy girl and a hot, popular guy.
Such a sweet introduction to introversion at its finest
Having completed volume one, I am now fully engaged with the story and eager to read the subsequent part of this series. In summary, the narrative centers on Ishimori, a young and extremely introverted girl who faced teasing at her previous school. This time, she aspires to be more sociable and forge friendships, and Miuri—the striking boy with lemon-colored hair—is ready to assist her. At times, it was unclear whether the story was presenting "flashbacks" or current events. Maybe I should take it slower and re-read some sections. It felt like there was a lot happening, yet overall, it was endearing because Miuri is eager to help Ishimori become more confident and sociable. It's obvious Ishimori really likes the lemon haired boy though.
Sooo cute
Love this manga series. Sometimes it doesn't "go with the flow" but it's so cute!!!
Such an amazing first volume!!
"Your happiness has already begun." If Kimi ni Todoke and Komi Can't Communicate had a shoujo baby, Honey Lemon Soda would be the result, which is the perfect combo! (Never mind the fact that I haven't actually read or watched a lot of Komi Can't Communicate, but Komi reminds me of Uka and Miura reminds me of Kazehaya from Kimi ni Todoke.) Uka is SOOOOOOO precious!! Heroines (or heroes) that have been and/or are bullied in school always hit me pretty hard, and Uka's story was definitely no exception! The way she has hardened her heart and facial expressions so she won't feel hurt by the bully's actions really hurt my heart. Definitely made me thankful for Miura being in her life and helping to push her to sprout wings and fly! I deeply enjoyed seeing the progression of her story just in this first volume alone and honestly think it's only go on the up and up as she gets to actively see her dreams become reality. And Miura is quite the character! I wouldn't go as far to say he is a "bad boy," but I guess compared to Uka, he is to a degree? I really love how he wears hats and how he is super honest and frank with Uka, even though there were times I felt my eyebrow raise because why was he saying THAT to our main girl?! He's pretty mysterious overall and think that does set up some nice future character growth and getting to know him better. I know I loved loved LOVED how he deeply encouraged Uka at multiple points! His words really hit deep and was SO thankful how he lifted her up figuratively, rather than tear her down. The art is STUNNING!!! I appreciated multiple pages and panels because the art style is super cute with some of the frazzled Uka panels but also just gorgeous to look at and appreciate when it comes to some of the "glow-ups" during certain scenes. I also enjoyed all the characters and very much looking forward to seeing more of all of them! Overall, this was such an amazing first volume! I am SO thankful Yen Press published this in English because it's going to be a series I know I will continue to love and enjoy! Can't wait for volume two!!
Good!
It's a fun light read! One of my favorites.
beautifully illustrated high school romance
Enjoyed the first volume in this thoughtful, high school romance. The FL has a hard time talking to people. Although she was bullied in middle school, she wants to make friends in high school. Enter the popular, cute ML who helps along the way. Looking forward to reading the next volume.
Reversed Psycho --- Does this happens in Manga too???
--- Lemon Soda's applying Un-intentionally reversed psychology to Uka without knowing it. It's the kind of love and care that was bothersome OR not (to those who granted or a giver) which most often times can't ignore the feelings and situations. It truly does happen all the time. Of course, that would be different situations if you were the bully and being bullied. *A 4-star rating due to the book size. The art was beautifully done, my only complaint was the book was too small (5 x 0.85 x 7.5 inches) and it was hard to read, especially the small dialogues. Since it cost $11.70, I would assume it would be 5.71 x 0.59 x 8.1 inches larger which would be easy to read and enjoyed the animated expressions of the characters. Also, the left side of the books was a waste of space that has a drawing. Instead of that expand it so it would be easy for readers to read this book. I don't mind paying a little extra for a larger size book. Just like the one in the picture --
A very enjoyable and comforting read
This is clearly the beginning of a good slice-of-life drama that leaves the reader excited for further volumes to see how the leads develop. The chemistry is sweet with an understanding male lead while the female lead provides heartwarming, sad, and funny moments without being exaggerated. Looking forward to see the protagonist overcome her struggles and past.
Sehr zufrieden!
I love this manga. I will soon buy the other volumes.
