The master at his best
This is a beautiful coffee table book tailor made for Hitchcock fans. The high quality images and the anecdotes of every film directed by the master of suspense make a beautiful gift for any movie buff.
Essential
Beautiful book. Well illustrated. A must for any Hitchcock fan.
A Fine Companion To The Master Of Suspense
This attractive, thick, hardcover book on Alfred Hitchcock fits in style with Taschen's other film books, with a heavy emphasis on glossy film stills, and insightful behind-the-scenes and on set photography. This works well considering Hitchcock and his films are so visually iconic. There is also a considerable biography, a summary of each movie with details (i.e. release year, cast, crew, running time, etc.), vintage posters, plenty of quotes, and one of my favourite features- the section displaying all of the director's trademark cameos. Perfect for fans of classic cinema and a complimentary addition to other intellectually deeper books on the master director. I bought this with Donald Spoto's The Art Of Alfred Hitchcock and highly recommend both.
Hefty but Pleasantly Sized Book — Great Coffee Table Book
Ordered this book as a gift for my father-in-law who has an interest in classic movies but isn't much of a reader. The design of the book is pleasing but not spectacular but my father-in-law doesn't mind. He really appreciates the amount of photos and how large they are. The book was a hefty size but still pleasant to hold and the text is a nice amount. I was also pleased with the cover design and paper stock used, it didn't feel cheap which is a big plus. My father-in-law has informed me that he's been making his way through the book so much so that he's spending more time in the bathroom because he's really into reading more of it LOL!
SUPER Bargain!
If you are a Hitchcock fan, this is absolutely a "Must Own" item. Hugely detailed and packed solid with valuable information on not only each of his films, but containing all sorts of information on Hitchcock himself - and at a truly unbelievably low price! Its the sort of high quality you'd expect in a $50 or $60 book, at least! Great photos, as well! A spectacular gift idea! This is one of my all time best book purchases and I just *love* it!
Everything about Hitchcock films
Great to understand his direction, why and how he creates magic, and suspence.
Excellent! Buy this!!
Excellent info, photos, behind-the-scenes, etc. I purchased this as a gift, but really want to go back and buy for myself after seeing the content. Additionally, this made me want to watch more Hitchcock!
A great book !
A high quality book contains an artistic visual archive of a legendary filmmaker , loved the cover , posters and of course the price .

Do we need another book about Alfred Hitchcock?
The answer is yes if it is as good as the Complete Films published by Tashen. The bibliography at the back of the book lists dozens of biographies, memoirs, and critical appraisals on Hitchcock and Paul Duncan's book manages to pull everything together in a readable and analytical manner. Duncan himself writes a critical appraisal which forms the first third of the book. What follows is a film by film study written by a dozen authors. One of the most appealing elements is the way in which hundreds of photographs illustrate the narrative. Most of these photographs are unfamiliar and depict stills from the films being discussed together with shots of Hitchcock directing. It could be said that if you could only own one book about Alfred Hitchcock this should be the one, although such is the appeal of the director that another one will no doubt come along and warrant the same praise. In the meantime Paul Duncan's book will have pride of place on my Hitchcock book shelf.
